  Receiving so much hate recently....

  well, as you all know, my wife (unstuck) and i are not df or da.. we just stopped attending several years back after my "apostate" online activity was found by a nosey employee of ours while she was working in our office (long story if anyone wants to know - it would have to be another thread).

  we never met with any elders - no congregation judicial activity occurred (as we would never consent to do so anyway).

  so our policy has been to be the same kind, loving, normal people we have always been.

  My husband and I faded several years ago and we were discussing how those still in who run into us act- it's like all the bs about the love for the brothers that prove the religion is the truth is no longer the MO. We were speculating that those still in are blaming us leavers for the KH mergers and taking out their frustrations about it on those of us smart enough to stop going to the cult indoctrination sessions. I call it soft shunning when they stop following us on social media. It's like they are confused we are living happy fulfilling lives because they are supposed to have the best life ever- haha they certainly don't!

  it’s quite affirming to see the horrific material that they’re serving up at the convention this year.

  aside from blatant homophobia, the scenes at the end of the convention that are discussed on another thread stoop to new levels of fear mongering.

  it seems to occur to nobody inside the organisation that this kind of material could trigger fear, deprsssion, anxiety, stress.

  I agree with everything everyone has said but I can't help but think how now that we don't indoctrinate ourselves with this sort of nonsense...I feel so much at ease with life in general. I used to have an overwhelming dread that Satan and his demons were going to get me, it was borderline panic. I was afraid to pray out loud for fear Satan would know my innermost thoughts and use it against me to trip me up in a snare...it really sounds so ridiculous now that I am saying it...the worldly people I associate with day after day are very pleasant and i never want to be part of the hateful congregation we used to go to...I really feel bad for you pimo folks having to endure this cult indoctrination along with the judgmental hypocrites- I hope our fade can continue...ugh

  i remember when that came out, my mother didn't catch it in the original article in the wt.

  it was in one of the review "do you remember" thingies that she caught it.

  she asked me if it means what she thought it meant.

  "My JW wife says she takes some things with a pinch of salt. She knows some teachings are BS, but still wholeheartedly believes they are right about most things."

  this statement by her is actually the opposite of what the GB has been teaching for years- We were indoctrinated to believe all or nothing- we were supposed to love jah with our whole heart soul etc etc. the reason we can't eat the candy bar in the gutter cuz it was in the gutter- remember that gem to teach the bible student why we couldn't celebrate pagan holidays..??

  As Jws u can't believe that part of the truth is the truth- we were supposed to believe and teach it all as truth- overlapping generation teaching immediately had the friends calculating the new finish line date for the end, and had the friends who were already done with all the BS saying no thanks

  suffice to say that i fundamentally disagree with the point of this article, a cynical attempt to boost numbers.

  it goes against bible precedent and their own long standing practice.

  they timothy as an example of a youthfull christian, a young man.. sure but he was not baptized young .

  have we ever noticed how witnesses are constantly being told that life is something that needs to be "endured", rather that "enjoyed"?.

  life is always so tough, so hard, so difficult in "these last days".

  This was a huge cognitive dissonance subject for me personally. Despite being raised as a JW, I am inherently a positive person. I used to completely dread a Sunday talk speaker going on and on and on for 15 minutes at the beginning of his cult talk about horrible world conditions- I used to turn to my husband and say- he hasn't opened his bible yet. Of course I felt guilty for not wanting to be there forced to listen to it...I also remember a series of wt study articles about joy and how it is a fruit of the spirit and we should cultivate it blah blah- as I looked around The KH for one example of someone doing that- no one was there. I think most JW are really jealous of people in the cong that are trying to be happy- a lot of them are self made martyrs
